This workshop is held in honour of spring and its associated element, the Wood phase (from Wu Xing in Chinese medicine and Daoist practice). The Wood phase carries the energy of growth, direction, vision, and forward movement through purposeful action. Reflected in spring through warmer days, lighter nights and all that quietly grows, inviting in expansion. We see it in the budding and flowering all us, as nature shows us how to rise, to stretch, and to move outward with quiet determination. It reminds us that growth does not need force, only the right conditions and trust and we too can begin to move forward with clarity and ease.

Qigong is a skilful practice rooted in the wisdom of Classical Chinese Medicine and Daoist traditions. It is a way of cultivating and balancing Qi, the vital energy within the body to help support health, harmony, and well-being. At its heart, qigong is an art of moving with inner strength and awareness, while exuding outer softness, and mindful alignment.

In honour of spring, guiding us with quiet strength, clear direction, adaptability and calm assertiveness to grow towards our future plans, dreams and goals.

Throughout the workshop we will take time to develop the wood (spring) forms while growing an embodied understanding of why and how we practice this ancient martial foundation to align with the seasons. There will be plenty of space for discussion, questions, and reflections. Whether you’re new or seasoned to qigong, you’ll feel supported to learn.

If the weather permits, we will practice in the beautiful garden at the venue.

In Classical Chinese Medicine and the Five Element tradition, the wood phase is linked to having a clear sense of direction in life. An ability to set goals and move toward them, not just reacting to life as it happens. The quiet art of awakening and renewal workshop will offer you space to use your knowing force within to grow and plan for the future but with clear and steady vision. When you trust it, your path begins to unfold with ease. When you resist it, it speaks as restlessness and frustration. This is not something to silence, but something to listen to and stay rooted with. To soften your effort, and allow movement to arise naturally for your life to expand in the direction it was always meant to go.

Workshop Details:

This workshop explores the Wood phase within the Five Elements and its connection to spring, growth, and new beginnings. Nature awakens, buds open, leaves grow, warmth returns and the body mirrors this with a desire to move, stretch, and breathe deeply.

During this workshop participants will be encouraged to reconnect with their natural rhythm by movement, breath and contemplation towards the energy of growth and renewal.  Wood energy represents creativity, creation, and forward movement. As spring is in it's fullest, and there is increased vitality and movement from the land around us, there's a natural urge to expand, open, and express ourselves which brings:

A widening of vision and perspective.

New beginnings and fresh ideas.

Optimism, vision, and planning

Expansion, activity, and personal growth.

Participants will explore how this energy supports shifts into potential and possibility, whether in life direction, creativity, or physical wellbeing

As you step into the energy of the Wood Phase through this immersive Qigong workshop, you’ll be gently guided to encourage smooth flow of energy (Qi) and support its natural rising force. We’ll begin by exploring each Wood form individually, building understanding and confidence, before bringing everything together in a flowing guided sequence. This seamless practice weaves together movement, breath, and insight, leaving you feeling grounded, clear, and deeply attuned to the rhythm of the season.

Each participant will receive an 8-page manual on the Wood Phase, along with guided contemplations to support reflection and integration beyond the workshop, helping you continue to honour vision, growth, and renewal in your daily life.

See you there.
